About Lynn Wohlers
I take pleasure in art that engages the mind as well as the senses, and to that end, I walk into the world with an open mind and few expectations. What happens after that has many contingencies, not least of which is your presence here.
The ever-evolving road to this moment began with long hours spent outside, where I was always closely observing my surroundings. A BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York, where I studied with Dorothea Rockburne and Yvonne Rainer, enriched and broadened my experience of art. Five years' zen study with Bernie Tetsugen Glassman further opened my mind, and a Social Work Masters degree allowed me years of meaningful employment. All along the way, if I wasn't making art, I was looking at the world intently. The eyes never rest.
In 2012 I moved to the Pacific Northwest, where I made it my mission to be outdoors with a camera as often as possible. I put my work out into the world primarily through my blog, www.bluebrightly.com, where you can see what project is currently motivating me. It's been said that I have "a gift for seeing an 'ordinary' scene and capturing something extraordinary." There's no doubt that I am continually inspired by the rich visual feast the world offers.
